Jessica as she was named learned to open doors, would sleep in the same bed as Tonie and Shirley and developed a taste for coffee. Jessica would let herself in and go and slump on the sofa or bed … that was until she became so heavy that she began breaking them and was relocated to a star studded view outside on an old mattress, kept warm at night by Tonie and Shirley’s dogs who have taken to crawling on top of her to make their bed.

Tonie is keen to point out that Jessica is still a wild hippo, she can come and go as she pleases. She often heads out to meet with the local hippos but always returns and whilst she has had boyfriends, she still hasn’t found the right one.

To date, Tonie tells us that Jessica has appeared in 78 documentaries and has a huge fan base across Japan and South Korea as well as many other countries. Alongside sweet potato and beetroot, she still loves her coffee and now drinks more than 4L of Puro coffee with sugar and milk a day.
